Show Journal 2005-07-22
When you play at a strip club you expect to see strippers. That’s part of the allure. Denied. No strippers anywhere to be found. Despite the lack of skin the show was a great time. The newly signed Casketeers kicked it off right. It was nice to finally play with them and seeing each other so many time. Very cool set. We played second and it was a little weird. Of all the shows we’ve played I think it was the worst on stage sound I’ve ever heard. The stage (which hangs from chains) is so small that the amps were literally on tables next to the stage. It sounded like I was playing a practice amp in a different room. Songs that I started I couldn’t even hear my guitar. I just assumed we sounded like total ass. So we start playing and people seemed to be having a great time. When you sound like shit on stage you always assume you do in front as well. Not the case. Everyone said it sounded good out front. Crazy. Our friend J Crash and his band played third. He booked a few of our very first shows in Oregon back in 1997 and 1998. Funny that we’re all still kicking around the same places. Thanks to Devils Point and all our rowdy friends!
