A few show changes to report. Sadly it seems that DOA has cancelled their slot on the 5/4 show in Richland but we are still going to make the drive up there and play anyway! Atomic Records is enlisting some local bands to play with us as you read this. Also, for the 5/17 show in Bend both Grey is Gray *and* Red Tide Affair have cancelled! Fortunately the Confederats have stepped up to the plate. It’s now going to be a 3 band show featuring Thirty 3, The Confederats and 800 Octane. Should be a rad show! By the way we have new long sleeve shirts on the merchandise page!

Pretty fun show tonight. It’s finals week at George Fox University and they decided to have a show so people could get a study break. The show was free so needless to say there was a pretty good turnout early in the evening. However with each band the music got faster and louder and the crowd dwindled accordingly. I think we immediately weeded out the ones who weren’t up to the task so the people that stuck around seemed to like us. Nothing too noteworthy to report. Well, except for Justin belching so loudly during a song that I could hear him over my guitar amp. Then there was the game of full contact foosball. Oh yeah, there was the basketball shot to Dave’s coffee cup. Oh, at one point Justin brushed his teeth with a stick of beef jerky. Then there was the simulated sodomy of Justin in front of 50 people. Yeah, pretty amusing evening. Big thanks to Darin for setting up the show and to all who stuck around!

This bit of news is nothing but thank you’s. First off thanks to everyone who came to our CD Release show at the Paris. You made that the best show we’ve ever had and we can’t thank you enough for the support! The next thank you goes to Rick Emerson. We sent him a CD and he’s said all kinds of flattering things about it on his radio show! Speaking of radio, our last big thank you goes to Daria and Gustav on KNRK for having us on the air, playing our songs and being cool to hang out with for our big interview!

I’m not sure if this was worthy of a review but since we set up equipment and played music I guess it counts. A lot of stuff happened so I’ll try keep it brief. We showed up at 5:30 AM and stood outside in the cold until 6:00 when someone finally let us in. The engineer (Josh) was late, so we had to setup the sound and equipment ourselves. Basically we played music for about a minute or two going into the commercial breaks. We had to play really quietly because we are a room next to sales people. Our cue to play was when Josh would wave his arms and we had to start playing. At one point he hurt his shoulder from waving his arms so frantically. The deal was we play music all morning and then towards the end of the show they take you in for an interview and play your “radio single”. So around 8:30 we went to meet Daria and Gustav. We walked in and basically just started shooting the shit about monster movies, our van and porn. It was far less intimidating than I imagined because we really just sat and talked the whole time and didn’t really notice what was on the air and what wasn’t. They were both totally funny and we had a great time. Towards the end of the show (and our interview) everyone celebrated Daria’s birthday by sending in a stripper. Yep, some dude dressed as fireman stripped down to his thong and did his bump and grind on Daria. Dave managed to sneak in a “hose” joke on the air and we were all amused. Pretty weird morning to say the least!

So did anyone hear us on the Rick Emerson show? Man, that was totally cool to hear our songs being played and wanted to thank Rick for the props! Check out his show from 12:00 until 3:00 on 1080 AM! Anyway, three more days until the official release of our new album AND our big release show at the Paris Theater in Portland! No Thanks To You will be tearing up the stage that evening and if you’ve seen them before then you know they rock. If you didn’t know then you will find out. Thirty 3 will also be playing and it turns out it’s their new album release as well so bring some extra cash. The fourth (and yet unnamed) band features at two ex-memebers of Fistfull and has promised us they will rock. If that wasn’t enough entertainment for you we are having our friend Kelvis serve as DJ in between bands. He has promised us a mix of rap, punk, old school metal and some “really wild shit”. Aside from the host of awesome bands and music we are going to be selling our new CD at a slightly discounted price that evening! Who can resist a sale? Last but not least we have brand new long sleeve shirts AND all sizes of our flaming 800 ball t-shirt onour merchandise page!

Oh my god Longview ruled tonight! I think that was the best show we’ve ever had there. There were tons of people there which was totally cool to see since we were “the headliner”. Perhaps it was the influence of 4/20 but there was a lot of weird crap going down early in the evening. The night began with NTTY observing a drug deal, an hour later rumors circulated of a drunk man in the bathroom attempting to solicit “favors” from guys, later a drunk woman from the bar next door kept starting fights with girls half her age, at one point a fight broke out between some intoxicated Longview locals at the bar, and the climax of it all was when a guy on a Harley decided to drive his bike full speed through a crowd of kids. It seemed like every five minutes someone would come up and say “did you hear about …” and follow up with a story more outrageous than the one before it. All that weird crap kind of added to the atmosphere though as no one really ever had time to get bored. As for the music Shoot For Friday started things off right and sounded great as usual. They are going on a 5 week tour in June, so keep your eyes open … they will probably be playing near you. Next was No Thanks To You. I think their style caught the crowd a little off guard but by the end most people really dug them. The four of us were totally impressed and to quote Jim “damn, those guys are good.” The Daryls were up next and just like the night before they rocked. The Longview crowd knew their songs which was cool because their style of music is so much cooler to watch when people know the words. Our set felt great and probably ranks in our top five shows ever. We all had a great time playing and it was cool to finally be able to play songs from “our new album”. Didn’t think I’d ever hear those words again! Super big thanks to everyone who made this cool … Dan, Brady (and others) for vocals, Matt for his bass playing on Berserker, TJ for setting up the show, everyone who stayed late and stayed awake. Most of all huge props go to the guys who came out from Tri-Cities!

It’s been a while since we played somewhere totally new so we were all pretty stoked on playing Bainbridge Island. The drive up was nice because going up and down I-5 to Seattle really gets to be a drag sometimes and the variety was a welcome change. The show was at a high school and since we were there so early we decided to grab a basketball and play a game of Horse. Sadly though the game took about an hour since none of us could make it in the basket. Despite the lack of actual running involved in Horse, the three old men in the band (i.e. – not Justin) were all tired afterwards and regretted our decision to play before a show. The show itself was pretty fun. There were quite a few people there and they actually had two band areas set up which was kind of cool. The first band (made up of two VERY young kids) played first on the main stage. After that there was another band (who’s name is escaping me right now) setup in the opposite corner of the floor. They played while we setup which was pretty unique because it didn’t give people time to get bored. When we were done setting up, they stopped playing, we started and life was good. The show was cool but I must confess that the sound on stage was awful, bordering on terrible. The amps were all about 3 feet in front of Jim so he couldn’t hear anything we were playing. The stage monitors weren’t working and as we later discovered they weren’t plugged in. (Insert groaning sound here). Still there was a crowd, they stood up front and they seemed to dig us so we can overlook the terrible sound on stage. When we finished, the other band (the one in the corner) played again, and eventually the Daryls took the stage. They sounded great and the kids loved them. That’s not a surprise though because they totally rock. After that the show wrapped up and we all got to bail pretty early. Thanks to Kelvis, Sam and Chris for walking the trail of tears to come see us play.

New long sleeve shirts are on the way next week as well as other sizes of the flaming 800 Ball T-shirt.

Last time we played on KPSU we had a ton of phone calls. At the time Wookie (the host) told us it was the most calls he ever had on his show. Since we previously had such a good turnout we were asked us to play during pledge week for KPSU to help them make a few extra bucks. We played some live songs (6 of them), played some tracks from the new album, did an interview and donated some signed merchandise. This all seemed like a good way to help KPSU make money but during our hour long visit only one person called in to donate. Either something good was on TV tonight or we just really sucked … I’m not sure which. We still had a good time despite the painful lesson in humility. Oh yeah, hello to The Speds.

I’ll keep this one brief … Jackmove was awesome, Burnout was good, Suburbia was amusing, the Ash Street staff was cool and Nate Dogg was in ‘da house.
