Sounds like we got quite a few of you with our little April Fool’s joke! We awoke on Monday to dozens of messages from all over the place with people saying how excited they were for us and offered their congratulations! Slowly though, as the day wore on the follow up e-mails and phone calls started rolling in with people calling us cold hearted bastards for deceving them! In the words of the A-Team “I love it when a plan comes together.” So for the record

Boo. More cancellations to report. Our April show in Chico got dropped because the club double booked. Also our May show w/ Statch at the Meow Meow got cancelled for the same reason. Oh well, that just gives everyone one more reason to come to our April 26th CD release show at the Paris because it will be our only all ages show in Portland until July!!! Oh yeah, by popular request we actually have real pictures of our merchandise now! One more funny thing

Nothing too earth shattering to report tonight. Small turnout but it was a Tuesday so what do you expect? Seeing New Society was pretty cool. I think they have a new singer now. Interestingly enough their guitar player used to play in a band we played with back in 1997 so it was cool seeing him again. I should also point out that The Gamits played very well this evening as they always do. Even Lyle liked them and Lyle hates everything! Also, if you like your rock really fast do yourself a favor and check out Downway … they are a fantastic band. Very tight and very fast. Thanks to all our repeat customers who came to see us on a Tuesday. Extra special thanks to Jeff for setting up the show, Mocephus for help on the staircase of doom and a shot out to Rob The Stalker for not making us play ‘Metal Guys.’

In the words of Stuntmonkey I think this show lasted about 2 days. Truth be told there was 9 bands in all and the show lasted about 8 hours total. Pretty long show but not nearly as bad as it sounds. Seeing Burnout again was really cool and A Time Too Many was a major surprise as well. Countdown To Life was f*ing incredible. Justin and I stood up front and drooled uncontrollably at one super bad ass guitar part after another. Those guys were way beyond rock … they were like the whole damn quarry. I could ramble on and on about how good every other band was but instead I wanted to tell everyone about the cool kids in Longview that come to see us at EVERY show. Dan, Cam, Brady, Matt, Mason and the others who’s names are escaping me right now … they come to every show, they stand up front, they move around, they know the words and they sing along to every song they know. It’s not just guys either, the girls come out and rock just as hard. What makes it really cool is that they go and support every band with the same enthusiasm. It’s the coolest thing in the world and it makes Longview one our favorite places to play. Can’t wait until April when we have a new recording for everyone there!!!

The CD is at the pressing plant and being manufactured as you read this! The official CD release date is April 26th but rumor has it we might get the CD’s a week or two early. Early release or not we are going to celebrate it’s release with a show in Portland at The Paris w/ No Thanks To You, Thirty 3 and The Greatest Mistake. The word on the street is that we might possibly even have a surprise guest DJ between bands. So is it time for some new clothes? Well, we finally have pictures of our latest merchandise! Check out the new t-shirts, the baby doll tee’s and our new hoodies that we have for sale!

Here’s the latest CD update … recording is done, mastering is done, artwork is about 99% done so it should be off to the pressing plant late next week. That means we are still on track for a release date right around April 26th. If you want a sneak peek at song names and lyrics look around the web site. You’ll have to wait a bit longer to hear the new songs though. Also, huge thanks to our Portland Street Team who really came through for the Tiger Army show

Dude, who expected 300 people on a Wednesday? Certainly not me! Super cool show tonight. The Civies sounded cool with their fast Rancid-esque style. Nekromatix was really good too. There were a little more subdued than the other bands but their cool look and coffin bass more than made up for it. Tiger Army headlined and oh my word, Tiger Army rocked! The crowd went nuts for them and it was great to watch. Since their CD travels everywhere we do in the van we all knew the songs and were very impressed. Oh yeah, we played too. I would dare say I really like playing at the Meow Meow. All our shows there have been fantastic and this one was probably the best one yet. I think the funniest part of the evening was when someone snatched away our set list and scrawled their own personal favorites onto it. Very innovative way to hear your favorite songs. Big thanks to Mike Thrasher and crew, Tiger Army, Mocephus, the cookie girls, and of course the almighty SDS.
Album Review
Up-And-Coming Artists: 800 Octane. In 1994, four kids from Boone, NC got together to form a band called Hoss. 8 years, a 3000 mile move, a few demo tapes, 2 full-length CDs, countless compilations, 239 shows, 2 member changes, and a record deal later, they are still here, under the name 800 Octane. Dave, Eric, Jim, and Justin can’t be put it any one genre. The band successfully blends the sounds of alternative rock, punk, and pop-punk. Managing to be too catchy and slow for true punk enthusiasts but too aggressive for the pop-punk crowd, 800 Octane has a truly innovative and original combination of sounds. The Portland, Oregon band’s creative lyrics and fresh sound form the one-two punch that makes 800 Octane a must-hear. The band is currently in the studio, recording their third full-length CD, entitled

Yet another great Bend show for the record books. Big crowd, cool bands and my ears are still ringing so things must have been good. It was nice to finally see Hydroponic play (since we missed them last time) and I thought they sounded great. Kaddisfly played well also and I’ve gotta say they are one of the nicest bands we’ve ever played with. Nothing else too exciting to report, just a really fun show. Thanks again to all our friends from Bend who came out to support us!
